Re-thinking thankless tasks

Posted Fri 27th Sep 19 - 1 min read

They are a fact of life for most of us and they can feel as if they're draining the life blood out of us. We can wind up thinking, this wasn't how life was supposed to be...was it?

As I was doing one such thankless 'Mum' task, it suddenly occurred to me that there can actually be a bit of magic in those moments of real boredom.

I noticed that, whilst I was running on autopilot doing the same thing that I'd done at the same time for what seemed like at least the last 195 consecutive days, my mind was taking advantage of the lack of distraction and bringing me moments of clarity.

Experiment with getting bored

If you're like me and have your best thoughts on the school run or whilst in the shower, you'll know exactly what I mean.

So, I'm inviting you to experiment with 'getting bored' and see what that state of rested mind brings up for you.

Maybe it will bring you just the moment of clarity that you're looking for.
