Your first port of call for answers to our most frequently asked questions. If you can't find the answer to your question below and continue to have difficulty using this site, please e-mail us:

Q: I feel uncomfortable about journaling or don't know where to start, do you have any suggestions?

A: Please check out our Journaling 101 page here

Q: What do I do if I don't want to answer a particular question today?

A: By Default, the FOML journal is set up to require an answer to each question. Journaling the FOML way is at its most powerful when you create a database of answers that you can later reflect on in order to pick out patterns and to note changes. Recording just one word is enough and, if you really can't find that word today, why not record the reason why you don't want to answer the question? Anything that helps you to get to the root of that feeling is valuable.

Q: I have shared some answers, but now changed my mind about sharing, is there anything that I can do?

A: You can either disable or delete sharing links from the 'Shared Answers' section of your user area. 'Disable’ deactivates a social sharing link and enables you to reactivate it from the sharing list later. ‘Delete’ deactivates the social sharing link and removes it from this list completely.

Q: I can't find my previous answers, what do I do?

A: You can access previous answers from the 'Review Answers' section of your user area, which will open in a calendar of the current month as show below:

Green dots indicate dates on which you completed your journal entries - click on one to show the entries from that day.

Red dots show dates on which you didn't complete journal entries and therefore no information is available.

To view a range of dates, click on the magnifier and the top of the calendar and to the right of the month and year. Enter the range of dates that you wish to review to create a table that looks like this:

Q: I can't find a Toolkit or Course that I have purchased - where is it?

A: Our courses and downloads will automatically download to your computer once you have checked your basket out via Paypal. Please check your computer's Downloads Folder.

If a problem has occurred during your check out process please re-try. If the problem persists please email us at

Q: How long do I have access to a purchased Toolkit or Course for?

A: Once you have purchased a course, it will appear in the 'My Downloads' section of your user area. It will remain available in 'My Downloads' for as long as you hold a FOML account.

Q: I'm trying to check out a Course or Toolkit without success

A: Please check that you have created and are logged in to your user account. You will not be able to make any purchases from the FOML shop without a user account.

Q: I'm receiving emails at a time that's not working for me - can I change that?

A: You can change your e-mail Preferences in the Settings section of your user area. There are you are able to change the time of both reminder and review emails.

Q: Can I see a walk through of how to use the website?

A: We're currently working on that and as soon as it's available, you'll see it added to your dashboard.

Q: What languages do you support?

A: Currently the site is only available in English, but we plan to change that as we grow.

Q: Do you have an app?

A: Just log in to your account from your browser and you will be asked if you wish to 'Install App'/Add to Homescreen. Select 'yes' and your journal will work just like an app.

Q: How do I delete my account?

A: Select the 'Settings' option from the 'My Account Menu' and click the red 'Delete Account' button . Please note that, deleting your account is permanent and you will not be able to access any of your saved entries or re-activate your account once you have completed deleting your account.

Q: How do I log out?

A: Ensuring that nobody else can access your account from your device is your responsibility. We have added an auto-log out feature that will log you out after 2 minutes of inactivity. You can extend the period of time before you are logged out, or disable it (not recommended) from the General settings tab in the Settings menu.

If you should navigate away from the site before without logging out or having been auto-logged out, your account username and password will be remembered for 14 days. Please do not leave an account without logging out - particularly when using a shared device.

Q: How do I recover or change my password?

A: Head to the log in page and click 'Forgotten Password' to be redirected to the password reset page.

Q: How do I edit or delete an existing entry?

A: If you haven't yet submitted a day's entries, you can simply navigate forwards and back through the day's questions and edit/delete text as you wish.

It is not possible to edit or delete and entry for day for which all entries have been submitted and the journalling process is complete. This is because, the idea behind FOML journaling is that it should be completed quickly and instinctively rather than as a result of a thought process over a period of time. We believe that what comes automatically to mind is the root of what really needs addressing for you.

Q: What happens to my personal and payment details once I have signed up?

A: Please check out our Privacy Policy

Q: Why shouldn't I just journal in a notebook?

A: Great question! Of course you can journal using pen and paper! We are offering another method for those of us who prefer to use a device for practical reasons, never being in the same place as your journal when you want to write. We offer a guided journaling platform with specific prompts to help you focus on yourself and get you in the right frame of mind as quickly as possible.

Q: What if I don't journal every day?

A: No pressure. Get it done when you can. We will send gentle reminders if you don't log in for a few days (and you're free to edit the reminder settings) but there is no pressure to force something out of you when it's just not there.

Q: The search function isn't working for me

A: That's probably because it's set not to enable you to search and collate your answers until you have completed at least 3 days' entries. If you have completed 3 or more entries and are still having problems, please e-mail is at and we'll look in to it for you.
